HAZARDOUS AREA ANALYSIS
Norton Consultants experience and expertise in electrical safety has long been acknowledged in a number of industries, particularly with respect to installations for defined hazardous areas.
Our experience includes re-writing Electrical Installation Basic Practices documents for Shell and BP, complete revision of Static Earthing Basic Practice for BP and preparation of audit documentation for routine testing and inspection of electrical equipment in hazardous areas.
Current and recently completed Hazardous Area analysis includes:
- ADI Benalla - Electrical Safety Audits of explosives facilities.
- Terminals Ltd - Electrical Safety Audits at Coode Island, Geelong and Port Adelaide.
- Shell Company of Australia - Hazardous Area assessments of numerous fuel terminals and depots.
- BP Australia Ltd. - Hazardous Area assessments of numerous fuel terminals and depots.
- Qenos Olefins - Hazardous Area Audits and Hazardous Area delineations of the entire manufacturing complex.
- Fluor Daniel - Safety assement of H2S reactor heaters.
Following our involvement with the ADI Benalla project, Norton Consultants were engaged to review and revise the Department of Defence Standard Specifications for Electrical Installations in Explosives Manufacturing Areas resulting in the publication of ADI Electrical Standard ESC-1.
Norton Consultants are acknowledged by Energy Safe Victoria as competent to assess the suitability of uncertified equipment for use in Hazardous Areas. Our Director, Mr Cameron Dorrough, is also the holder of a Class 'H' Hazardous Area Electrical Inspectors License as issued by Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) under the Electricity Safety Act (Victoria) 1998.
